Building a Bar is an exciting project for anyone especially when its your Bar in your own Home. Remember keep it Practical and use the space to the best of your ability. When ordering fridges consider the space the fridge will take up with an open door, maybe go for sliding doors! Keep the ice bucket next to the Slim Jim Glasses etc. Economy of movement is key to the smooth running of any Bar. The Under Counter Cooler requires a minimum space of 70cm width, 40 cm height and 60cm depth. Leave plenty of room for the cooler to breathe and avoid overheating. Keep your cooler as close as possible to your taps for best results and fast cooling of beer. Once your Cooler is filled with water it will start to generate the ice needed to cool your beer as it passes through. Happy Days!

Keeping your Beer Lines Clean.  

1. un-tap your Keg.

2. Fill your wash bottle with 1part Beer Line Cleaner to 25 Parts of Cold water

3. Then attach your keg coupler to the top of the wash bottle and press down on handle.

4. Draw the water/detergent through the draft beer system by pouring the tap the same as if you      were pulling a pint. You can use a bucket or wash basin for the flow.

5. Leave the Solution in the system to clean for at least 15 minutes to combat yeast etc.

6. After 15 min disconnect the wash bottle and discard of any used unused detergent and rinse    thoroughly. Refill wash bottle with clean cold water and flush out lines by repeating step 3.

7. Give the system a good flush with the cold water to eradicate any beer line cleaner by pouring the cold water through the tap.

8. Tap a Fresh Keg, put your feet up and Enjoy.

Is the same Gas used for all Beers?

The Correct Mix of Gas is as follows, Lager is Generally dispensed at with a 50% Nitrogen and 50% Carbon Dioxide Mix, while Stout is only served with a 75% Nitrogen Mix / 25% Carbon Dioxide Mix. The Correct Gas is extremely important to ensure the quality of your Pint.

Should I Turn my Gas off when not using?

The pressure should stay built up in your system if you turn the gas off while not in use. If you have any leaks the gas will not be wasted if switched off.

How do I Tap a Keg?

1. Before you try insert the coupler into the keg ensure the keg coupler is in the upright position.

2. Align the two coupler lugs to the corresponding openings.

3. Insert the coupler handle and turn clockwise about 90degrees (till it feels tight) and press down on the coupler handle till you hear a slight click. The gas will now enter the keg and you are ready for pouring.

How do I pour the perfect pint of Guinness?

  1. The Perfect Pint starts with a clean glass. Ensure your glasses are beer clean, do not use washing liquid to wash your glasses as the beer cannot grip the glass, in traditional Bars extremely Hot water is used in glass washers to eradicate grease. Do not stack your glasses as they will condensate and weaken. Use Renovate detergent solution every few weeks to freshen your glasses and use a brush regularly after use. A quick rinse after a pint saves a lot of work.
  1. Hold your Guinness tulip stout glass at a 45-degree angle close to the spout to prevent bubbles from forming in the head. Pull the tap fully open in one quick movement and fill the glass 70% of the way.
  1. Allow the Guinness to settle completely before filling the rest of the glass. Push the handle back for the final pour and stop just proud of the rim and wait another minute or so, the yeast will raise the Guinness about 2ml over the glass for the curve on a perfect pint. Enjoy !
