The artwork of the Guinness toucan was created by the famous illustrator John Gilroy of the (Benson Agency) working for Guinness in the 1930s and these illustrations were later made into exterior pub signs by Burnhams in the UK and Curran’s Enamellers of Clonmel for the Irish market.
We have traced the original RAL colour and now use powder coating to create a quality finish the ornate metal hanging frame was originally made in Clonmel by the Channon family blacksmiths now in their 4th Generation.
Great credit to Joe Channon Master Craftsman, Blacksmith for his recreation of his Father Teds sign frame. It was a pleasure to be in the original forge and watch Joe work his magic with iron heat and love for quality – a true Craftsman.
